The Seventh Rib

CHAMBER OF THE RIB CAGE

The rib cage creates a chamber inside the body, a place that resounds the sound where the lungs and heart reside. The heart beats more than 3 billion times in a lifetime on average. This beat is one of the rhythms most central to your life, as the heart is the body's most critical organ. The tissues of the lungs expand and
contract as the air travels through the nose, past the larynx, and into the trachea. The heart beats out its rhythm while the lungs help translate prana into the sound of your voice.

THE SEVENTH RIB IS THE CENTRAL PORTAL

OF MELODY IN PHYSICAL FORM.

THE RIBCAGE IS THE CHIEF VIBRATIONAL

CHAMBER OF THE BODY'S MUSIC.

THE SEVENTH RIB, SEVEN NOTES TO CREATE ALL MUSIC, HEART

BEATING TO GIVE IT RHYTHM, RIBCAGE TO RESOUND THE SOUND.

THE SEVENTH RIB: THE GOLDEN GATE OF PRANA

As you have already heard in this course, the central channel of the body is called the Sushmana, flanked by Ida and Pingala on the left and right. Ida naadi presides over the left nostril, and Pingala naadi presides over the right. These subtle nerve channels run all the way from the base of the spine to the nostrils.
If you are able to put pressure on your seventh rib, if you are able to tap into the portal of its pranic connection, you can govern Ida and Pingala at your command. These three main nadis are passages for the most refined prana, they are strings which vibrate the body's music, and the seventh rib is the key to their mastery.

• Your temperament is controlled by the seventh rib

• The seventh rib is one meridian point in the human body which can

alter the breathing through the Ida and Pingala

• The seventh rib holds a special pranic energy which is also known

as the spirit

• The seventh rib can regenerate you, re-create you

• Putting pressure on the seventh rib controls the diaphragm

HOW TO LOCATE THE SEVENTH RIB

If you draw an imaginary line across the middle of the back, connecting the bottom edges of both shoulder blades, the place where that line crosses the spine is the 8th thoracic vertebra. The seventh rib starts about two inches above this point. It continues out to the sides of the body at an acute angle, dropping from the starting point, passing under the lower edge of the shoulder blade and
ending up about six inches below the armpit (as measured when the arms are extended straight out to the sides).
Locate the seventh rib, and gain the experience of using it. Once you have learned about the seventh rib, increase your awareness of it as you complete your daily practice. Have the intention to develop the seventh rib as a vocal tool, see what kind of a resource it can become for you.
You are using the seventh rib to increase the power of your sound, as it is a portal into an absolute torrent of life force energy. The yogis scriptures call it the golden gate of the prana.
